Having 3 computer classes this semester in College, my excitement is overwhelming as it means that I am done with the mental torment of General Education classes. Not saying they are bad, I learned a lot, just that they are done and now I can focus on what I am truly excited for, my passion, my hobby, anything and everything computing!

This being my second school for IT classes, my first had a focus for Network Administration. The excitement grew exponentially there when my professor had asked me what my major was. After being told Network Administration, he looked at me with great delight and said, “That gives you the keys to the world!” Having a little understanding as to what he was talking about, after a few more semesters it became clearer as to what he was referencing in that I would have to know a little of everything, I would be “That Guy” and I loved it even more!

At my current school, this semester required an online blog for all classes to document my journey and understanding of the content. After thinking about this for a while, I’ve decided to add this content to my Public Domain “TekRP” of which the community and more can have access to experience and possibly learn what I have done.

For this this instance, I have fired up a homebuilt server that is running on a Supermicro motherboard, Intel Xeon Silver 4116 CPU, 128GB of EEC RAM, 128GB thumbdrive for the OS and a simple 4TB Samsung SSD. This is all being managed with VMWare’s ESXi ver. 6 and this server is being ran on a LAMP server within Ubuntu Server (Linux) as a Virtual Machine on 2 CPU Cores, 8GB of memory and 250GB of storage running the latest version of WordPress that was just setup 2 hours ago, all the above setup as of 2 hours ago. A static IP was given to the LAMP server of which WordPress is virtualized within it’s VM, the DNS directed toward the Static IP of the server and certbot used to issue an SSL for the IP Address / URL.

A quick configuration of the main page of blog.tekrp.com. I’m kinda new to doing that, so it looks rough, but mainly editing a template while treating myself to a Wendy’s Baconator. This is my first post, I’m ready to delete the sample after this posts, and will generate 2 more posts for my other 2 classes.

This is so exciting and who knows, maybe I’ll keep this going through the life of TekRP as well!
